Mahurangi Joinery was formed in October 2014. Joel Hemus had worked as a joiner in Warkworth for many years before he and his wife Suz decided to set up Mahurangi Joinery. They bought the plant from another local firm with the intention of specialising in timber joinery for the Auckland and North Auckland building markets, working on both new home builds and renovations.

Joel and Suz had always wanted to run their own business together, so after 15 years in the hospitality industry Suz left her management role in another local Warkworth firm to run the administrative side of the joinery business. Because of her love of interior design and architecture, Suz has a great eye for detail. She brings with her a love of working with the public and enjoys a great rapport with all their clients.

Another local joiner came on board with Joel and Suz, and between them, the joiners at Mahurangi Joinery have more than 50 years of joinery experience. The company is steadily growing and Joel and his team are happily busy doing what they do best: exquisite timber joinery.
